Mostly Socks...All Lavender...All The Time!

I recently showed you the Landscape Shawl that I'm making for my sis-in-law that's got so much lavender in it...

And tonight I wanted to show you another pair of socks with lavender in them that I started a bit ago (this is the yarn I got in Alexandria over President's Day weekend):

And tonight, I also cast off my newest pair of Lavender Blue Denim Socks (I LOVE THESE SOCKS)

It seems in Knitnana's world it's all lavender, and mostly socks, all the time!

We're under tornado watches (and severe storms, with damaging winds, etc) for most of the night into the wee hours, so I'm hunkering down with the knitting and the Nook.

(Why is it I always try to type Knook?)

this weekend, we adopted The Tonk...do you remember?

Do you remember how The Meezer reacted when they were finally introduced? (you can click on that link and read the blog post to refresh your memory if you've forgotten)

Well...look at them now:

I can't tell where one ends and the other begins...

I Bought A Nook...

Part of me is terribly excited and part of me is just realizing that while this will certainly curtail my library shelving needs (at least where routine reading is concerned) it certainly isn't going to save me money, and I'll still buy knitting books, after all...

It didn't take me long to realize that having a Nook means, to B&N, spending more money with THEM...first they wanted me to buy "accessories" - tho' the clerk did stress that any ear buds I had with the right kind of connector would do (and I do have them, thankfully)...but then there's the stand to keep it upright. And there will be a need to buy a wireless hub, as I don't have one. And of course the cover...Well. You know how I feel about such things, don't you?

If I need something like that, I can certainly make something:

So I pulled out some fabric and stuff to cushion and protect and began to measure and design...

A single pocket...a fold or two...
A neat button/loop closure

I think, however, that The Tonk finds it all a bit intrusive. (And yes, I caught it before it hit the floor, he was up and away pretty quickly after I took that shot)

So, who has a Nook and what do you think of it?

(and yes, mine's a ColorNook - I kinda thought it might be helpful to be able to check email from wherever)

What a Whirlwind!

I almost mean that literally.

We had a tornado warning in the middle of the Olde Liberty Fibre Faire yesterday. The big tent outside was taken down, the outdoor vendors left early, it was pretty scary sitting in the floor for awhile (we were inside). At the last minute, apparently, the tornado veered off away from the faire site. Whew.

Another thing that happened was that it was so busy, I almost forgot to take a photo of the booth, so when I remembered, there were customers in the booth:

And I didn't get the best photo in the world, but two of my helpers were in there at the time...Dear Daughter and Dear Niece, being novice knitters, were off learning all they could about fine yarns...

Like this tremendous (500 yards!) of Crazy4Dying Squishy sock yarn in the colorway Velvet that I bought (it will be a shawl, I don't know which one, yet). Aren't the colors gorgeous?

And Jane McKinney of Spring Gate Farm was right next door to my booth and had the most luscious cashmere...

Yes, that's the one that came home with me (it's going to be a lacey cowl for next winter).

And it probably comes as no surprise that The Tonk loves goat?

I luves goat, Mommie
Today, the little guy, who'd begun to look quite chunky and shaggy, learned that getting brushed feels wonderful...in fact, it feels so wonderful I thought he'd eat the brush. I haven't had a kitty love brushing so much in many many years...
Me hads me hair done

Me looks spiffy

Mommie, do you think looking this good will impress Mz Lucy?

Me'd love to love Mz Lucy

Make sure you tell Mz Lucy I haz good taste?

Hmm...Tonk are you sure YOU have good taste, or that cashmere tastes good?

Oh, BOTH, Mommie

Me'z practicin' my 'Look of Sedukshion' for Mz Lucy

(Oh my...)

Counting Down...

There aren't too many more hours to make things for this weekend's Olde Liberty Fibre Faire, so I'm sneaking in little things as much as possible. As I made a batch of key fob wristlets tonight, I suddenly brought myself up short!

And guess who this one will belong to? *wink*
(can you believe I hadn't made one for myself yet?)

Wow!

They were terrific! If you can see them in concert, do so!

Not All Work And No Play!

But close...

Over the weekend, I've been pretty productive, including making up this sample of a Wristlet Teabird:

And this grouping using the white on black "Knitting Terms Oressa and accessories in coordinates (I absolutely love that sheep print!):

Then this odd print, Funny Bunny, got made up in an Oressa, too (it's the same print as the mini baglet in front)

I made drawstring bags and another Sidekick, plus more baglets...

Throughout the weekend, The Tonk has been quite vocal...insisting that there's been something IMPORTANT under the stove. I promise I have not ignored him, but there wasn't anything there, I was sure of it. I can't tell you how many dust bunnies I dug out from under it with the yardstick trying to find his crinkle balls...Well, today I finally heard their tell-tale crinkle as I ran the yardstick under it...I dug out one, and you should have seen the obvious joy with which The Tonk pounced on it! But I'd heard something else, so I went back and sure enough, fished out another that was being quite stubborn under there...(that one I put up for safe keeping, because:

Can you see the difference in those? The one on the right is the one I got from under the stove, the other one has been bouncing around the house being chased by The Tonk, but not with as much glee. It appears that the smaller one is easier to carry in his teeth, and being lighter, bounces better? Who knows, he likes the small ones so much more...

So of course, I had to toss it up the stairs, repeatedly...

He bounded after it...hid it...
pounced it!

I didn't think he'd ever get tired...How about a live action shot?

So now he's tuckered out (so am I!), and I'm about to head out to a concert with Montana Skies...

I heard about them on Facebook, and I liked what I heard. I'll let you know!

More Wonders From Bernie & Me...

Bernie and I have been keeping each other company during the thunderstorms tonight (well, to be honest, Bernie is turned OFF during the worst of the storms and I cut and iron and pin...).

I love this primitive sheep fabric so much that I make sure I have both colorways available...
And working thru some of my long out-of-print fabrics and some new ones, too, I made a few little key fobs my knitters will love...

And suddenly I saw this fabric! Well, there's not much of it left, but what there is will be at the Olde Liberty Fibre Faire next weekend, made up in smallish items - if you love ladybugs, you probably should make a beeline to my booth as soon as you get there! *wink*

I Love Bernie!

Bernie Bernina, that is...Just a few more things for the Olde Liberty Fibre Faire (why is it I want to say "Ye Olde Liberty...")

Lavender Blue

Not the song, which I think is a bit odd anyway...but the colors:

I realized after I admitted my renewed love affair with blue denim and brown leather, that the other color involved in all that is lavender. Which makes me think of Judy Collins' song Albatross which I've always loved. "The lady comes to the gate, dressed in lavender and leather. Looking north to the sea, she finds the weather fine..."

Anyway, I digress The lavender blues above aren't all mine. The sock is, but the triangle shawl is for sis-in-law. I happened to pull the two of them out of their drawstring bags the other day at the same time and realized I was steeped in the lavender blues! Happily, of course...

The past few days have been mostly making sure I have lots of goodies for the Olde Liberty Fibre Faire on April 16:

I've been having fun digging thru stash to find as many fabrics as possible to use up, and I believe I'm going to have some really neat stuff for folks! This is the first time I'll have Oressa needle cases available for sale rather than by custom order only (I'll take custom orders, of course). And I hope to have a smallish stock of Sidekicks as well (there are three up there in that photo, plus the one I showed you the other day). There will probably be only a few of Nana Sadie Rose's normal bags, as everyone has seen those and knows them, and knows they can order them! I'm working on making sure the smaller items are available for carrying home with you right then and there! :)

The Meezer, however, has been spending a lot of time snoozing - her shoulder joint has been pretty stiff and she's been limping a bit - we've checked it out and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong other than chilly temps, dampness, and getting older (she's almost 10!). A baby aspirin every 3 days seems to help a bit, but she still loves her Cozy Cushions, preferably in front of her own private space heater (yeah, no, that's mine, but you can't tell her that).
She also loves either office or sewing room chair. And did you happen to notice that the lace shawl (which is the first one I ever made) has several long pulls in that photo? Hmm...now I wonder who might be to blame for that one?

Maybe it's the Zonked Tonk? Hmm...yes, I think that's quite likely!

Namaste

I honor the place in you,

which is of love, truth, light, and peace.

When you are centered in that place in you,

and I am centered in that place in me,

we are one.
